BPUSD Teacher of the Year

          Mrs. Jennifer Lopez was selected as the 2012 Baldwin Park Unified School District Teacher of the year.  Mrs. Lopez teaches sixth grade and uses direct instruction, collaborative groups, GLAD strategies, and Thinking Maps in her classroom to help students learn.  She motivates her students to do their best and believes in preparing all of her students to go to college.  She is a big part of Kenmore’s No Excuses University!

Early Alert: New Pertussis Immunization Requirement

Whooping cough (pertussis) has been widespread in California during 2010. Whooping cough disease causes coughing attacks that make it difficult to breathe. It spreads easily when someone with the disease coughs or sneezes. The Health Services Department has received notification of the passage of Assembly Bill 354 which requires students to be immunized against pertussis (whooping cough). For the 2011-2012 school year, all students entering grades 7 through 12 will need documented proof of a Tdap booster before starting school.

  1. This requirement begins July 1, 2011
  2. Can be met by receiving one dose of Tdap on or after the 10th birthday          
  3. Applies to all public and private schools
  4. Does not affect students enrolled in summer school.

You may go to your own health care provider, a LA County sponsored Flu Clinic, Monrovia Health Clinic or East Valley Community Health Clinic. After your student has received the required Tdap immunization, please bring the yellow immunization card to the office to be copied and given to the School Nurse.

 

Alerta Temprana: Nuevo Requisito de Vacunación Contra la Tos Ferina

 

La tos ferina (pertussis), ha sido propagada en California durante el año 2010. La enfermedad provoca ataques de tos que dificultan la respiración. Se propaga fácilmente cuando alguien con la enfermedad tose o estornuda. El Departamento de Servicios de Salud ha recibido la notificación de la aprobación del Proyecto de Ley 354 que obliga a los estudiantes a ser vacunados contra la tos ferina (pertussis). Para el año escolar 2011-2012, todos los estudiantes que ingresan a los grados 7° a 12° necesitaran prueba documentadas de una vacuna de refuerzo Tdap antes de comenzar la escuela.


1. Este requisito comienza 1° de julio 2011
2. Puede ser satisfecho al recibir una dosis de Tdap en o después del 10º cumpleaños
3. Aplica a todas las escuelas públicas y privadas
4. No afecta a los estudiantes matriculados en la escuela de verano.


Usted puede ir a su propio proveedor de cuidados de salud, clínicacontra la gripepatrocinadapor el Condado de Los Angeles, Monrovia Clínica de Salud o East Valley Community Health Clinic. Después de que su estudiante hayarecibido la vacunaTdap requerida, por favor traiga la tarjeta amarilla de vacunas a la oficina para ser copiada y entregada a la enfermera de la escuela.
